Christmas Eve Carol

In honor of Christmas Eve, I thought I’d share THREE lovely quotes today… from three very different people, but all with the same inspiration…

T, LetterFrom a humorist and a writer I remember watching in a time when talk shows had more depth – one whose words rang out joyously to give us laughter that comes from heart:

here’s nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and not be a child.                                    – Erma Bombeck

.

From a writer who formed much of my joy for reading – and imagining out my own stories as a young girl – with her endearing books:

Christmas is for children…for grownups too….it is a period of necessary defrosting of chill and hide-bound hearts.                   – Lenora Mattingly Weber

.

And, from another famous writer.  One who wrote one of the tenderest stories in the classic movie, “The Human Comedy” – scenes from which still play in my heart.  And one who is reputed in my family to be our distant relative (notice the similarity of our last names)…

Christmas is sights, especially the sights of Christmas reflected in the eyes of a child.  – William Saroyan

his Christmas…                                                                                                          Let our hearts turn to Him with wonder again… as a child.                                                                            Whether you remember a sad childhood…  or one you cherished                                                                Let the King whose coming to earth we celebrate this night                                                              redeem the fresh sweet joy in you that you were meant to know…

For this night, you are an innocent little one once more…beholding a blessed birth in a stable long ago…

You are there, looking up in awe at a STAR glowing in the night sky…

Your heart is amazed at the beauty of song swirling around you with holy praise…

The lights… the fresh scent of trees on the breeze… the glory of knowing you are loved and held close in the arms of our Father... His child, as much as the one in swaddling clothes before us all…

It’s time to open His gift and find…

Your heart is full with the love…hope…starry-eyed wonder of a young one…                            discovering  it all… for the first  time…                                                                                                                   Tomorrow…                                                                                       This Blessed Christmas morn.
