Drink Deeply

White Tailed Deer photo

As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God.                                                                 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God… while people say to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”

~ Psalm 42: 1-3 (NIV)

Father, in treetops swaying on the breeze around me,

I love to hear the murmur, so like ocean waves…and Your heart

                                                                stirring my soul…

His Sunday whisper to me… and maybe to you…

Even as you thirst for Me, My heart is longing more over you, my child…and all those yet on their way.  I send the sorrowing to find  Me in you today.             O, that you would drink deeply at My stream! For I dream that you sit with Me, listen  and hear My Love poured out on you… That you may freely share My living waters with those who don’t yet know Who it is they are   thirsting for… And… Who it is, first thirsts for them

Yes, the oasis for the sorrowing, a place to get sustenance and refreshment.

I love this Sunday thought, Pam. And I pray that those who haven’t come to this Living Water, free flowing and abundant, will find it, as He himself will choose when and how.

May we be testimonies, silent or spoken, so that they may know Him, that fills our souls and our heart. We pant for Him daily. Life would be vain and nothing apart from Him.

My love to you, in His peace and sustenance. Have a lovely Sunday evening.

    • Thank you, Lolita… yes, may others read Him in us as living letters! His peace and sustenance to you this week too! I’m glad you liked this too… It is a wonder to read David’s psalm and realize that, no matter what, God is longing over us even more…

I love thinking about that today, Pam. It is so deep….. His longing is even more than we could ever long for ourselves. I can’t paint that kind of love-that will give it credit. It is best left with our all out Praise and gratefulness. Then perhaps, just share it to others, like morsels we share, in the way we could….. to the best we could.

I enjoyed this restful, peaceful, comforting thought today. I live in the forest, and I love to listen to the swaying treetops whispering words of peace to my soul….I can feel God’s presence near in all of His creation around me…I started my morning devotions with an early walk today…and found such solace there. Thank you for these words today. So appropriate for the Sabbath rest that I long for….just as God longs for us to retreat there with Him. Blessings to you today!

    • Yes… I got up early today to meet a friend at our local lake before church. It was so nice… beating the heat of the day, sharing under nice breezes, and focusing on Him… Then after church, walking in my neighborhood I was loving the whispering in the trees. Maybe because I grew up by the sea, that sound always reminds me of the ocean waves. Love it. I feel Him in the beauty He has created around us too. Glad these words spoke His rest to you today too! I’ve seen deer in my backyard in the winter, but never see them in summer light. Blessings to you too!

So many writings this week about sitting and resting and just listening.

    • I thought the same thing as I’ve been reading around others… must be a word He wants us to think about… 🙂 I also had yesterday’s tragic events in CO in mind, how others need to see Him in us in times like these… That was a message at church today too.

I love this prayer, Pam. As I read it, I looked out my window and the trees ARE swaying in the wind. Made your words come alive for me. Thank you.

  7. Spiritual survival and growth is done exactly this way. Nothing else can be counted on any better. I rely on this. [And, as I commented on someone else’s today, this seems to be a topic that is hitting hearts during this stretch of time. Must be needful in many ways. And knowing we can trust Him to provide the water for our restoration is an extreme blessing.]

  8. Hello Pam, I love the song “As the deer pants for the water so my soul longs after you” Your post reminded me of this lovely song. I feel the peace in your post. Thank you also for coming by my blog and leaving the lovely teaching in your comment, I have found that very up lifting. Thank you. God Bless.

Beautiful, Pam! Love your Words, love our Father’s Words…
    It’s like a Holy Hug!
