way with words…
His Sunday whisper to me… and maybe to you…
My heart sings over you, Come – follow Me,
like a child patterning after parent…
You are meant to learn to speak forth
light and hope and life as I do.
Through My Spirit living in you, in MY Name, call forth My LIFE
in the ACTIVE voice:
Peace! Be Still!
Mountain, move into the sea!
Light, come!
DECLARE the beauty and promise of your Lord against defeating lies,
as My Psalmists do…
You, O Lord, surround me with songs of deliverance!
By Your stripes, I am healed!
No weapon formed against me will succeed!
Wander no more outside the promise
but TAKE the LAND I give you.
A future and a hope.
My windows of heaven opened and pouring out more
than you can receive.
Unending Grace…abounding, flowing…
from Me to you to others.
Just as the active words of a writer move, hearten, transform,
So are My Words…in your mouth.
Living…sharper…than a two-edged sword.

I am *both* a writer and singer, Pam, so I especially appreciated your references to singing! Isn’t it amazing to think that God really does rejoice over us with singing (Zeph. 3) and that He also surrounds us with songs of deliverance. What hope this brings. This is the first time that I have read your blog, Pam, and I can tell that you, too, bring hope to hearts. And you’re a wordsinger! Your words glow with lyricism. Thank you for making music to the Lord with the words that you pen!
Lynn… wordsinger. I love that! It makes me a bit teary, because music and beautiful singers have always meant so much to me. I never thought of my writing like that, though I have often thought of beautiful singers as “songpainters.” Thank you!
I can carry a tune, but would not say I have a particularly lovely voice. Just ordinary. How wonderful that you are a singer! Yes, that verse from Zeph.3:17 is one of my favorites and it does bring me hope to know He sings over us and through us. Thank you for such beautiful words… I do want to “make music” to the Lord with words. I used to paint and draw a lot, so I guess it is all part of that same love of creating… 🙂
Oh songpainters! I love that, too, Pam. I sing Bach in a performance group, and we are painting the story of God’s redemption in each note we sing. Bach was a Christian and deeply spiritual composer. I had never thought of our voices painting a picture. But you are so right! And yes, we creatives have much in common. All the arts “connect” at some point. But when we connect in CHrist, there is such beauty to behold. Keep singing and painting words that bring Him glory!

At church yesterday, our Pastor tackled the third I AM of Jesus Christ in the book of John , John 8:12. And this time Jesus is telling us: “12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
And this tells me how much we can be light for those who are still in darkness. That being given the understanding that Jesus wants us to have about His word, we become enlightened, so much like when we are able to hear His voice and understand, we need to let others experience this light-mind opening, eyes seeing, life-experiencing.
And yes, Pam. You are one bearer of His light (in your writing). Thanks for sharing your light with us.

This is so beatiful Pam, and I know friendship with Andy was God’s special gift to you. What a velvet voice he possessed, and he was so wholesome. I felt so saddened when he died, and loved listening to all the stations playing Moon River (though admittedly, I”m not sure I totally understand the lyrics! 🙂 But one understand that Andy loved God and stood for decency. You captured him so eloquently. And thanks for sharing that darling video–my 20 y/o daughter actually enjoyed watching it, and I’m getting the movie from the library. Thank you for the way you use words to share light, beauty, and legacy. You bless us so!
