When We Need A Bit o’ Chesterton, English-Looking Countryside and Hearts Full

Let all who seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee; And let those who love Thy salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified.”   ~ Psalm 70:4

Digital Camera

You say grace before meals.

All right. But I say grace before the concert and the opera,

and grace before the play and pantomime,

and grace before I open a book, and grace before sketching, painting, swimming, fencing, boxing, walking, playing, dancing

and grace before I dip the pen in the ink.

   ~ G.K. Chesterton

Love this quote!  Makes me think of all the prayers the Holy Spirit has breathed over and into me while sitting in a concert – prayers for the performers, for the audience, praise for the beauty poured out…and His beauty in it all…

In every ordinary or breath-catching moment of your days this weekend, a heart full of spilling-over blessings to God be to you each this Sabbath before Thanksgiving!

Just a note…
I received an email today from someone in the Philippines asking bloggers to share this prayerful thought… if you can afford $5 donation to a relief agency helping to restore them in this time of such tremendous sorrow and desperation for their nation, what a wonder of praise to God it would ring in their hearts…

Giving thanks in all things, receiving grace in all things. It took me a long time to learn this. Beautiful post and quote! Blessings to you this Thanksgiving season. Love, Rachael @ Inking the Heart (linking after you at Heart Reflected)

What a beautiful quotation, Pam…….saying grace before all experiences, because as CHristians, all we experience is grace–pure, lavish, overflowing grace. We say grace before we eat, and I implored God’s grace on my knees just before sitting at my keyboard every time I worked on my book, but I haven’t really thought to ask for His grace in situations where I am not actively doing something, other than receiving…… like sitting in a concert. This is a wonderful reminder to acknowledge the Giver of good gifts in all things. Thank you so much for sharing!

    Dear Pam
Oh, I just love the quotes of G.K. Chesterson. This is so true. Everything we do in life that is not done through faith in the grace and life of our Lord Jesus in and through us, is actually sin. When the people asked Jesus what works they should do to get eternal life, He answered them that the only work that they need to do was to have faith in Him!
    Blessings XX

“In all things give thanks…” Why do we make this only being thankful in hard times and difficult situations? Lovely post and image today…thank you!

    • Thanks, Marty! Yes, I do believe that continual praise in our hearts is a strength of God around us, opens room for His blessings and makes us blessings to others…breakthroughs because God lives in our praises… like in 2 Chronicles 20 (Jehoshaphat and the singers of praise). Glad this uplifted you too! 🙂

  7. I love this quote so very much!

  8. Cheri says:

I’ve prayed the prayer from Psalm 70 just recently. For Him to magnified in what seems an overwhelming situation. I have confidence and hope that He will. Thanks for Chesterson’s words.

    • Love the way God keeps on speaking a certain word to us through each other too…I agree in prayer with you for that Cheri. May He light the way through it quickly and with blessing beyond what seems possible. 🙂 I’m blessed to know this blessed you today too…

Sometimes the most breathtaking beauty is in the everyday and the ordinary – the blessings God gives us that we are tempted to take for granted. I love the chesterton quote!
