When March is scarcely here…

A Light exists in Spring
Not present on the Year
At any other period —
When March is scarcely here

A Color stands abroad
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.

It waits upon the Lawn,
It shows the furthest Tree
Upon the furthest Slope you know
It almost speaks to you…

 ~ Emily Dickinson

God, my God, how great you are!
    beautifully, gloriously robed,
Dressed up in sunshine,
and all heaven stretched out for your tent.

~ Psalm 104: 1-3 The Message

A breath of spring,

a transforming light that shimmers across the soul,

a lilt of heart upon the breeze…

for you…

today and night.

  1. I love how Spring comes so quietly. The Bradford Pear Trees are blooming here – and tomorrow we expect snow – that is typical here. Wishing you blessing in your spring. I so enjoyed your Dickenson poem!

    • Yes, I awoke to snow here this morn too! I think my feet are antsy for spring and walks in the balmy breezes. And my heart for those pear tree blossoms! I came across that poem last night and loved it too. 🙂 Spring blessings your way today!

  2. Pam–a beautiful reflection on March,, which truly seems to come roaring in and slipping out silently as Spring gives yield… I have been seriously ILL—came down with viral menginitis (close as I ever can get to spelling it) and spent several days in hospital, home, back to hospital and home again…

It has sapped me to where I feel so extremely weak—can finally walk around without my whole body throbbing… It was awful and my dear Matt was so very afraid, never left my side…. PLEASE offer up prayer for me—this is a SLOW recovery and I am so very grateful to have reached just this day even…..

I keep you in my heart and prayers too… love, martha

    • Martha, I do keep you in my prayers every day… I’m so sorry to hear about the meningitis! As Psalm 107:20 says, sending Jesus’ healing word into you in His name.

March here is still snowing, but the sun is out more and more… Haven’t had much time to write here lately, but wanted to put something cheerful up last night. I love how Emily D. expresses that about the light… something I’ve felt for sure.

May He renew your strength like the eagle’s so that you can “run” and not “walk” on more energy. And pour His peace over you. Thank you for your prayers too, Martha. I really appreciate them.
