God Shed His Grace on Thee

America Flag Pageant

America, America…

And crown our good, once more, with brotherhood, O LORD…

from sea to shining sea…

Happy 4th, America!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—  for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
~ 1 Timothy 2: 1-2 NIV
sat eve post 4th of july
I love the Turn of the Century Americana of this scene in Pollyanna (my drawing up top), where the entire town gathers in Disneyland-style 4th of July celebration picnicking… with booths displaying seas of watermelon and fresh corn on the cob bob, huge homemade cakes sell by the slab, men in white suits with striped shirts and straw hats and women in long gown and parasol meander, and Hayley Mills and chums gather on a gazebo bandstand to belt out America, America…
If you are in the U.S. — how are you celebrating this day where you live?
    Hi, Pam! Happy Fourth! I love your picture of the children each being part of the American flag. So creative, and so rich in color! Nice job! The unity of the children depicted there is so nice, and so patriotic. In these uncertain days in our U.S.nation, we must remain unified. Your lovely picture reminds me of that. We must remain unified in every nation of the world, against any evil that would try to harm or come against us. We must look to God in prayer, to protect and guide. Thank you, Pam. And, again, Happy Fourth!
    • Thanks, Eileen! Happy 4th to you too! I woke up this morning with this scene from Disney’s Pollyanna in my mind and decided to try and draw it! I love how they all dressed like the flag… one of my favorite scenes in this delightful movie… and thought it would be perfect for this theme too. Yes, we need unity among peoples everywhere and God’s protection… how important is our prayer. Happy 4th!
    Flag out, church picnic, inviting the neighbors, water balloon toss! And praying for our country!
    You have such a gift Pam! 🙂 I love that picture. We celebrated quietly here at home with special people and yummy food, but mostly grateful hearts for the privileges and freedoms we easily take for granted.
    Blessings!
